To say she was surprised when her son-in-law, Harry Potter-Malfoy, stood in the doorway of the manor was an understatement.
He was wearing a casual Muggle outfit, wearing a casual robe over it, a bouquet of flowers in his hand. He was fidgeting slightly, shuffling his feet as Narcissa welcomed him with a warm smile and tugging him into the manor. His emerald green eyes, full of life and happiness, sparkles with anxiousness as she led him through the manor and into the living room. Once he was sitting, she sat across from him.
"What is it?" she asked immediately after they were seated. "It's not Draco, is it?"
He laughed. "No, no, Draco's fine. He's sorry he and the others couldn't come with me, but Madeline is sick, and he didn't want to leave her . . ."
She nodded. "That does make sense. So, what is it, then?"
"Well, I wanted to say happy Mother's Day." He took her hands in one of his and set the bouquet of flowers into hers. "I got these for you, and I know Draco had something for you that he wanted to give you in person."
She smiled, taking the bouquet from him. "Thank you," she whispered to him."
He flushed slightly. "It's nothing. I wanted to do it for you."
"Still, thank you. I'm glad that you're my son-in-law, even if my husband still reluctantly doesn't agree to it."
"It's nothing, really. I just thought that since you're my mother-in-law and you treat me like a son, I thought it would be something you would like. And you're more a mother than my aunt had ever been when I was littler." He gave her a smile, then leaned over to give her a kiss on the cheek. "I'm glad you're my mother-in-law."
Tears sprang in her eyes and she wrapped her arms around him, hugging him. "I'm glad you're part of the family now."
When he left a few minutes later, she put the flowers in a vase and took it up to the room she and Lucius slept in, putting it on the table near her side of the bed.
As she climbed in and turned to lay her head on Lucius's chest, she smiled and closed her eyes.
