Katara sat in the Earth kingdom house, once again practicing Water bending, developing new skills. Zuko had stayed over with Uncle the night before and Katara heard him messing around in the house. She smiled softly and looked out the window. Today was her birthday. She hoped Sokka hadn't forgotten. It would be just like him to forget today. She stood and walked out.

"Zuko?" she said softly, her bare feet not making noise as she walked across the honey coloured floor boards.

"Don't come in here!" That was Sokka. Katara heard Aang laugh and a few minutes later Momo flew out with a fruit in his hand. What were they all doing in the kitchen?

"Watch it, twinkle toes!" There was a loud crash as Toph apparently did some Earth bending. She shook her head, smiling. There was furious whispering then Zuko was pushed out to meet Katara. He grinned nervously, shaking flour out of his hair.

"Hi."

"Hello," Katara said, sounding all knowing.

"Happy birthday, Katara." She smiled then gasped as he held out a small, dark blue box.

"You didn't have to-"

"I kinda did. Open it," he urged. She pulled the ribbon off and pulled off the lid, revealing a bracelet, one with all four elements charms dangling from different spots. "Uncle found it and said it would be nice for a 'certain lady'. You can thank him. He's still asleep, though but he-" Zuko cut off as Katara hugged him tightly.

"Thank you for this, Zuko," she whispered. "It's beautiful." He smiled and hugged her back, closing his eyes. It was a start. And Zuko had nothing but time.
