I HAVE TO GO TO "TORTURE TOWN" FOR "LEARNING"

I have to go to "Torture Town" for "learning".
At least, that's what they call it at my school…
Don't want a test, that's oh-so-standardized.
I want meaningful classes that will make me very wise!
I have to go to "Torture Town" for "learning".
I certainly do mind this. Now, do you?
We have to do homework that makes us blue.
Why can't we do it in class? That's the EASY thing to do!
I can see me now on every school day, trudging down the stairs.
There's no joy and no surprise when I open up my eyes,
Because there is no hero standing there.
I have to go to "Torture Town" for "learning".
At least, that's what they call it at my school…
No rubric charts or dull syllabuses,
I only like INTERESTING COURSES,
Of which our school does offer paltry few!
I say dissent refines civilization;
Teacher says all I need is more ed-u-ca-ti-on.
There's lots of room for that when I get to college,
But until then I'm stuck with this shallow high-school mirage!
I can see me now on every school day, trudging down the stairs.
There's no joy and no surprise when I open up my eyes,
Because there is no hero standing there.
I have to go to "Torture Town" for "learning".
At least, that's what they call it at my school…
No rubric charts or dull syllabus-us-es,
I only like INTERESTING COURSES-ES,
Of which our school does offer paltry few!
