Disclaimer: I do not own Elsword. The only thing that I own are my horrible ideas.
She was his light; the one that understood him the most, and the one who kept the secrets that were closest to his heart. She had been the sun in his sky, but now she was only the shackle that held him to the ground. She was the pillar that supported him, as well as the lover that his father desired.
After she perished, the full weight of his responsibilities were carried by him, and him alone. His father had fallen into depression, and tried to fill the void in his heart with adultery and alcohol. With nobody left to support them, or help carry the weight of their burdens, they bore the pain behind a mask of confidence.
However, he would endure.
He would endure for the one that bound him to this responsibility, the one that had bestowed upon him this arduous task.
For her, the one that changed his father into a mere ghost of his former self; who would sell his own soul to the devil just to see her again.
The light whose death had shattered the peace he had known all his life, and brought along betrayal and misery.
He despised her for leaving him and his father, and scorned her for being too fragile to touch. But he also loved her for who she was; he adored the soft smile she would give him when they watched the stars as a family, and he treasured the warmth she provided him during his times of need.
So he promised her on her death bed that he would look after his father no matter what.
Even after his father had fallen into the hands of demons and cast him away like common filth, he still looked after him.
He still cared for him, the man who betrayed his family, the man that had allowed the demons to tempt him into accepting their nefarious deal, the man that caused the destruction of his city.
For her.
For the light that death had taken from his reach, he toiled on to save the man that ruined his life. Who put him through hardships that no boy his age should face.
Only for her.
Authors Note: This was my very first fanfic. I never realized how hard it is to actually write one. I would like to thank Ever for helping me check my grammar, as well as suggesting ideas to improve it.
