It was his first job, and he was quite excited. Finally, he'd be able to go out there, kick some ass for the Federation, and prove his worth as a soldier. In fact, the armor itself slid right on. He was far, far too comfortable in it.
The young male had his helmet off for the time being, however; he brushed back a few strands of black hair behind his ears, and attempted to focus on listening to Commander Adam's words about the plan of attack. The commander looked damn good, all right; blue and white uniform in pristine condition, the numerous badges adorning his chest ... almost every rookie grunt looked to him for advice. Despite his demeanor, he was helpful. He did care, even though some of the lazier ones denied it.

Samus, though, he wasn't too sure about. She didn't talk to many people, and she had this sort of icy look to her, no matter what you did. If you breathed wrong, you'd feel that glare on you. So even though she looked pretty hot in that Zero Suit, with her blonde hair tied up into a high ponytail, this rookie knew better; he wasn't going to touch her with a ten foot pole. However, he did have to listen to her this time around; apparently, she was giving orders with Adam. The Space Pirates were, apparently, her specialty...

... and apparently, she was having a bit too much fun with this. As she was starting orders, this rookie noticed that she was getting a bit too close to Commander Adam for just "orders." He raised an eyebrow, but said nothing. Personally, he wanted to see how this played out.
It started averagely enough; she began by how the Pirates were deadly, quick to attack, and how they would completely ruin you if you let your guard down for even a second.
He wondered why Samus opened like that; after all, this was common sense.

"First off, they're quite prone to simply attacking you from the front." Samus swung around, grabbed one of Adam's shoulders, and 'pretended' to jam her fist into his chest, he air-quoted 'pretended,' because he was pretty sure that Adam's grunt of surprise wasn't staged. "The claws will tear you right open; avoid at all costs." The commander then 'pushed' Samus back (her footing was too rehearsed, he supposed, for that to be an actual shove) and pointed his pistol directly between her eyes.

"If you can shoot them on their head, that would be a good target." The trooper noticed something; they weren't making eye contact with the troopers at ALL to check if they were listening. They were really wrapped up in this, weren't they?
At least it made the lecture entertaining.

"Then again, if you have to attack, it's best to sneak up behind them." Samus slid forward and placed her hand on Adam's shoulder, sliding behind him and putting her Paralyzer towards his neck. "The Pirates are weak to attacks from the back, especially from charged shots."

"Thank you, Samus." She nodded and slid away, to the side with the troopers. Adam continued to address them. "Now, we need to get in and out as fast as possible; this is a job that we cannot take lightly; they have inhabited this planet for some time, and they will have defenses if we do not strike quick and fast. Understood?"

"Yes sir!"

The Federation grunts started to disband, and the young rookie walked side by side out of the room next to a veteran.

"Hey, Joseph?"

"What is it, Erik?"

"... Do they do that often?"

"Hey, they don't get to spend too much time together. It's pretty much known they're together, even though they deny it."
.... Well, that wasn't fair. Here he thought he discovered something amazing.
