Unbeta'd
Inspired by the song Blink - Revive
Betty sighs as she rubs her hands over her face. She's been running on fumes the past two days. All she wants to do is crawl into a ball and sleep. Sleep sounds so good right now but she has work to do. People depend on her.
Betty stretches as she stands up. She feels some of her bones crack as she raises her arms above her head. Sighing she walks over to the window and pushes it open it letting the cool breeze into her bedroom. That should help her stay away.
Spinning on her heel Betty looks over to the clock on her bedside table. Her parents will be going out soon meaning that Jughead will be coming over. Not that they're sneaking around. No. It's just their thing. When her parents are in he comes around but they both prefer the quiet of the house. They both relax more when they're not in. Betty can breathe and Jughead doesn't feel like the odd one out- well no more than usual.
She makes her way over to her bed and crawls into the middle. Leaning back against the pillows she stretches her legs out and looks at the papers next to her. Homework, finished. Extra credit, finished. Notes on a story for the Blue and Gold spread out alongside an open note pad.
Sinking back into the pillows she closes her eyes. A couple minutes wouldn't hurt anyone. She just needs a few minutes, a power nap.
Yawning she stretches her arms above her head and blinks. The faint tapping that she thought she was imagining slows to a stop. Pushing herself up she looks around. The then open window is now shut and the curtains have been drawn. Her eyes focus on a figure that's sat on the window seat.
"Hey Juliet." She smiles as she runs fingers under her eyes.
"Hey Juggie. How long have you been here?"
"About an hour and a half, maybe two." He shrugs "You looked like you needed sleep so I let you."
She slides off of the bed and makes her way over to him. His eyes follow her movements until she's standing in front of him.
He reaches over and closes his laptop shut just as Betty places a hand on the back of his neck. She beds down and places a quick kiss on his lips.
"Hi." She says pulling back.
"Hey again." He places his hands on her waist and she smiles. It's a smile that's only for him, "Feel better after your sleep?"
"Hmmm." She hums scraping her nails at the base of his neck "I guess, it would have been better if you joined me though."
"Would it now?" He replies leaning into her touch
"Yeah." She takes her hand from his neck and turns around, "You want some food?"
"Hmmm, no."
She pauses and turns, "What? Since when does Jughead Jones turn down food?"
"Since his girlfriend looks good enough to eat." He replies raising his eyebrow and smirking. He stands and makes his way over to her.
It's taken her awhile to get used to how forward Jughead can be. It only happens when they're alone. She likes it. She has seen many sides to Jughead. The sleuthing side. The caring side. The family side. The angry side. The passionate side. The many sides of Jughead Jones and he's all hers.
"Really?"
"Really." He bends down and kisses her. Silencing whatever it was that she was going to say.
His tongue brushes against her lips and she sighs and wraps her arms around his neck. He starts to lead them back towards her bed pausing when her knees hit the bed.
"How did I get so lucky?" She asks looking up at him
"Well, I could list a few things but I feel like that would distract us." He replies.
She rolls her eyes, "Jughead Jones. Romance expert."
He huffs a laugh and leans in to kiss her again.
Truth is Betty knows how she got this lucky. It happened quickly and quietly. They both needed someone. Never did they realise how important they'd be to each other. Betty feels like she blinked and her friend soon became everything she needed. Everything that makes her feel right.
