Lightning: Prologue
Rosalie's POV
It was around midnight, the others were hunting, I had already finished. Instead of heading home to babysit precious Bella with Alice, I ran to my tree.
My tree was in the middle of a field. It's huge, twisted branches made a natural seat. No one knew I was here, it's my special spot. I sighed as I watched the rain fall. My surroundings didn't help my mood.
For awhile now, Bella's been trying to get one of to change her. Even after I told her my story and my thoughts, she still wanted to be a monster. What I wouldn't do it be like her: human.
Thunder rumbled overhead, the rain got stronger. I wrapped my arms around my body and shivered: it was like the night I died.
A crack of lightning struck the ground about ten feet from my spot under the tree. I jumped when the thunder rumbled a second time after the lightning. I was sitting in the middle of the storm.
All of a sudden, Emmett was standing a few yards away from me. He just stood there staring, his golden eyes never looking away from me.
A shock ran through my body, I screamed.
Emmett's POV
I stared at Rose as the lightning struck her body. She screamed and was knocked to the ground. I ran over to her and watched as her body convulsed. The electric charges were visable as they moved through her body. Then she was lifted into the air and dropped to the ground. She stood up.
I ran away as fast as I could.
Rosalie's POV
I stood up and saw Emmett run away. I called out to him, but he was gone. I tried to follow, but couldn't run fast. Then I collasped.
I took a deep breath and rolled on my back. My whole body was sore. I could feel the wet grass soak through my shirt onto my back. The rain on my face calmed me down, I took another deep breath.
Tears of joy rolled down my face and mixed with the rain. I realized that my greatest desire for decades had come true.
"I'm human" I whispered to the dark sky.
