"He's being a real Jackass."
"I realize that, Chief." Lee Adama replied exasperated.
"Well what are you gonna do about it?" Tyrol fumed.
"What would you like me do? I already tried talking to him."
"You gotta do something. He's bullying around my crew like they're a bunch of pathetic, sniveling dogs and we've had enough. He almost made Cally cry."
Starbuck, who had been listening nearby with her feet propped up, jerked her had up at the mention of the young specialist's name. Apollo and Starbuck traded glances and he gave her a small gesture that meant 'Calm down.' There was an unspoken agreement between the crew. They could put up with almost anything. They could put up with Cylons at the door and terrorists in the government, but nobody better mess with Cally.
"Chief. I realize you're frustrated. But that is just the way that Joker is, he's got an attitude on him because he thinks he's everybody's superior. But he hasn't technically broken any rules because, as much as I hate to say this, when it comes to your deck crew, he is their superior. The regs back him up."
"So you're not gonna do anything?"
"I'll talk to him again, but I can't demerit him, I can't restrict him, I can't put him in hack."
"I don't want you to do any of those things. I want you to smack him down, I want you to bully him the way he bullies everybody else."
Lee sighed. "And I would love to Chief. There is nothing I would like more than to take that smarmy little face and pound it into the floor of this deck, to beat that frakker into a bloody pulp, and make sure that he never bullied anybody ever again. But I can't. It would be petty, it would be petulant, and it would be inappropriate. I can't do it because I'm supposed to be above all that, because I'm the CAG." Apollo stopped for a second and looked over at his Lead Pilot. "Starbuck, will you do it?"
"Sure." She said without hesitation and dropped her feet to the floor as she went in search of one unlucky lieutenant.
"Anything else, Chief?" Apollo said as he went back to his clipboard.
"Um. Uh. No sir."
