I wrote this story ages ago because I couldn't sleep, it may not be perfect, but I hope you enjoy!
…Kevin Ryan was exhausted as he got into the car bearing two steaming hot coffees.
" Thanks" Javier Esposito said as he accepted one of them.
" I hate it when bodies show up at six thirty in the morning" Ryan said as he took a large gulp of his coffee.
" Yeah, me too. So did Beckett tell you anything 'bout the crime scene?" Esposito asked as he pulled out from in front of the coffee shop .
" Nah, nothing but the address, and that you were on your way to pick me up. She said she had to go pick up Castle 'cause his car's broken or something"
" Yeah… Wait! She called him first? "
" Uh… Yeah, I guess so."
" But he's not even a cop!" Esposito exclaimed
" Well he is sort of her partner" Ryan said looking out the window with tired eyes
" yeah, but still…."
They drove in silence for a while until Ryan blurted out " If they got married we wouldn't have to call them Castle and Beckett anymore, we could call them something like…. The Castle!"
Esposito took his eyes away from the road to give his partner something reminiscent of a Beckett eye roll. " Dude, they're not even together yet!"
" Well, that's what they say. Come on you've seen the way Castle looks at her!"
" yeah, and the way Beckett talks about him…" he let his voice trail off, and then said " But I do wish they'd get a move on it, If I have to witness one more of their wordless conversations I might go crazy!"
" Don't you think it'd get worse if they were a pair ? " Esposito looked thoughtful, but didn't answer because they'd just arrived at the crime scene.
" Could you get my gun , it's behind your seat" Esposito said as he was getting out.
"Sure" As Ryan started rummaging in the back of the car he said " You know if Castle and Beckett were together we'd probably have caught them making out by now."
As he turned to the front he saw Richard Castle and Kate Beckett standing next to Esposito, by the grin on Castle's face and the deadly look on Beckett's it was clear that they'd heard what he'd just said.
" Hey… guys…" He said awkwardly. " Beckett rolled her eyes and made to leave " Let's just go" she said
Ryan hurried after the rest, thankful that Beckett must be too tired to give him any more recriminations than the eye roll.
