This is in my coffee shop AU for the "What Makes the Sky Blue" event that happened a while ago. Basically, my peeking into what Lucifer would be like in this verse. I feel like he couldn't have been completely oblivious, but rather not in a position to indulge himself.

Which, in coffee shop, means that he'd be the manager everyone loves but is also terrible at taking initiative when it involves his personal life. It doesn't mean he isn't looking, though.

R&R!

Lucifer wouldn't say that he was sad–how could he be, with such wonderful coworkers and friends?

No, Lucifer was dissatisfied.

He worked on weekdays, and spent his weekends with his friends. If they weren't busy, he stayed at home and tended his plants.

He had a coffee tree that he'd just planted, but he hadn't quite been able to get it to grow. Then there were his books.

None of them held the allure that he did.

But he always ordered coffee.

He had a regular routine.

Lucifer had a regular routine.

Had.

Now, he was dissatisfied.

But Lucifer never was one to be selfish.

So he watched and waited. He had his routine, and it gave his life purpose.

Yet he still wanted to see what sort of routine drove the man with coffee bean hair and espresso nails to consistently talk to him.

He wouldn't deny he enjoyed it.

Sandalphon was much like the coffee he enjoyed: abrasive, yet sweet. It took one being willing to get past the initial bitterness to really enjoy the sweetness.

That day Sandalphon finally looked at him, finally smiled?

Lucifer was willing to give his routine a bit of a shake for a smile that sweet.
