A/N: I had no idea how much I missed writing Gilmore Girls fic until I started this up. I miss Rory/Marty so much. This is a little filler piece for 'The Hobbit, The Sofa, and Digger Stiles,' set after the 'naked guy' incident. Read and enjoy!
Disclaimer: I don't own Gilmore Girls and I'm not making any profit off of this, honest!

He screwed up.

There's not much he knows right now, but that's ringing in his mind loud and clear.

He really screwed up.

Surprisingly enough, he has not come to this conclusion because he's wandering around the unfamiliar hallways of a Yale dorm building in the dark wearing nothing but a girl's bathrobe. No, that's not it at all.

He screwed up with her.

It's not like he even remembers her name. (He should, he knows, but the alcohol is making things a bit difficult at the moment.) What he does remember, though, is how glad he was not to be the first to show up for class that morning. He remembers how she bit her lip when she read the syllabus in that empty classroom. He remembers that her eyes were blue, really blue. And he remembers that he lent her a pen.

That last one isn't terribly important, but he remembers just the same.

He finds his pants strewn over a bush in a small courtyard just outside of the building. After he pulls them on, he takes off the robe and drapes it over his arm, ready to trudge back off to his room.

He stops by her door, though, on his way toward the stairs. And he knows it's a dumb idea, but he knocks anyway.

She opens it a few seconds later, and he freezes for a second, because yes, her eyes really are as blue as he remembered. But he swallows, cocks his head to the side a little, and finally speaks. "What was your name again?"

"Rory. Rory Gilmore."

"Rory," he repeats. "Okay, thank you."

He knows that look she's giving him means she thinks he's a little crazy (or maybe just a little drunk). But she says "You're welcome," anyway.

He's turning to leave, hoping he won't trip over his own feet, when she calls out to him.

"Hey, Marty?"

He turns back. "Yeah?"

"I'll… remind you later if you forget again."

With a smile and a laugh, he says, "Thank you." There's a pause, and he notices that she's biting her lip again. "I'll see you around, Rory."

She's smiling too as she nods.

He's almost completely up the stairs when he looks back just in time to see her close the door.

"Rory," he whispers to himself. "Rory Gilmore."

He won't forget this time.
