Summary: Set in the future. Helen is alone, and tired.

Helen Magnus was tired. She was tired of her constant sturggle to find and protect abnormals from terrified and trigger happy humans. She was tired of having to fight the Cabal, no matter how many times she thought they were finally gone, they came back. She was tired of Nikola's 'returnt the vampire race to glory' schemes.

But mostly, Helen was tired of standing at the graves of friends. The first to go was Ashely, her only daughter. She was stolen from her by the Cabal. The lose had almost destroyed her.

Next to Ashleys grave was Henry's. He had contracted a rare diease that only afflicted his people. It had been ten years after Ashleys death.

Kate was besides Henry, as she had been in life. After his death, Kate almost stopped caring. She would rush head long into dangerous situations, barely noticing the many holes and cuts she recieved. In an attempt to capture a rare Amazonian creature, she had fallen into a trap, and had been killed by the beast. The only consoltaion they had was that she was with Henry again.

Though he didn't have a grave here, the Big Guy was next to die. One morning, he had simply told Helen and Will that his time was coming, and he left to return to his home to die.

Now here Helen was standing again. Before a new grave. 'Dr. Will Zimmerman, beloved confident, guide and friend', the tomb stone read. Will had died only the day before, at the age of 79. A good, long life to many.

The pain of Will's passing was still fresh in her mind, tourturing her. Over the years he had become her best friend. He had always been there when she needed him. No matter how dire the situation they found themselves in, Will could always make her laugh. It was their way of dealing with it all, making jokes, laughing at nothing.

She couldn't count the number of times that he had saved her life, literally and figurativly. He was her emotional compass, always showing her the right way to go. He had always been honest with her, even though sometimes she didn't want to hear it.

Helen left the graveyard, walking through the hallways of the Sanctuary. There where new faces there, but they could never replace the ones she had left behind.

She made her way to the top of the tower, and stop on one of the battlements overlooking the river, and New City. It had been a joke between her and Will, that no matter how old it got, or new technologies and ideas coming it, it would always be New City.

She looked to her right, wishing that she could see will on his normal spot, staring out at the magnificant veiw before them. It was funny, they had come up here so often, Henry started to tease them that it was 'their place'. Over the years, they had grown to accept that.

Helen sighed, knowing that she couldn't bare the loneliness of her life much longer. She knew that it was time to re-energize her search for a cure to her longevity.

She was tired of outliving everyone she cared about.
