Sweet Snow
It was easy to tell when he came up behind her. The faint traces of energy that only hinted at his presence always put her at ease, his scent engulfing her as it usually did. She smiled as he came beside her, a curious look thrown in her direction.
"Onna. What is that?"
Kagome looked up, an amused smile playing on her lips. "This is what we call Ice Cream. It's sweet and comes in different flavors, this one being chocolate. Would you like to try it?"
Her tone was non-judgmental, simply holding the cone out for him to try if he so pleased. The apprehensive look he gave her did nothing to sway her arm's reach, and after a moment the demon took the treat away from her, only to enjoy a slight taste of it. Handing it back, his hesitant look changed into his more usual façade of impassiveness. "It was…good."
The bright smile Kagome gave him was enough to persuade Hiei to take a seat next to her. They found no reason to really converse, it was a calming sunny summer day, the weather fair and no rouge demons to pull them out of the easy going attitude they had both acquired in the past couple of months. Yet as the time flew by, a slight jingle came into the hearing range of all the children that surrounded them in the park. One particularly cute little girl ran by, yelling to her mother something about "sweet snow."
Hiei sent her another look, and Kagome felt obliged to answer this one, with a slight laugh. "Sweet snow is ice cream. It's just a name some kid's call it, because the texture and temperature reminds them of winter, and therefore, snow."
He paused, thinking over the phrase before giving his judgment to it. "It's a ridiculous name." Kagome only giggled, once judgment was set, it was hard to change his mind. Even if it was only a children's name.
Wow, first thing I put out in awhile. This is a drabble to a thread I read on the Kagome/Hiei site The Deadliest Sin concerning Hiei and sweet snow. I thought it was cute.
