Wrote this in Government because, honestly, after The Wall, the fanfic is practically writing itself.
Together
They were together in the nightmare for five years. Together in that they were alone in a dream world with each other as their only companions. Together in that they were the only two people in the world, trapped in a brick wall only a few miles around. Together in that they had no one else.
The sex within the wall was violent. Sometimes it began as a fight, a brutal dispute between them that became rage filled sex. Sometimes it began as just a need for release that somewhere along the line became a battle for supremacy. But it always ended the same. Bruises, bite marks so deep they bled, scratches that would leave scars.
Peter would disappear after, for days, sometimes months, into the dream of New York City. When he would eventually find his way back around, the first thing he would do was return to the wall and start swinging the sledgehammer into it with as much force as he could muster. The clanging sound of hammer on brick would plague the city, non-stop, for days.
The longer they were there, the less time he would stay missing, the less time he would spend at the wall. Over all the time that had passed, Peter had started to forgive Sylar for killing his brother. Not that he would ever tell him that.
The sex on the outside was different. There was no malice behind it. They cling to one another, not because they need simple companionship, but because they need each other. The sex is gentle, as tender hands grope, not just to feel someone, but to feel each other.
Peter is still there in the morning, never disappearing into the night. He's there in the morning as they lie contently in each others arms. He's there in the morning when Sylar gets up to make waffles. He's there in the morning, not needing, nor wanting, to be anywhere else.
They were together on the outside for an eternity. Together in that they loved each other completely, and they needed no one else in their world.
