Oh me goodness everyone, I'm back. If you don't know, I had a story called Tessellate that I am no longer updating. Yes, first chapter is short. The next will be longer. Its 2:15a.m. here and I just had to start this ball rolling.
Changes include: name, large portions of the plot and character description.
Name: Reeja
I hope you all enjoy and review! I promise to stick with this one.
It was the third time that week she had woken up to gunshots.
It was pretty standard with the area she lived, but never so frequent. Two times a month, tops. She hadn't gotten a wink of sleep and it was beginning to affect her. But he was home tonighy and she would get to him if it killed her.
Which brings us to this point, where she's stumbling through the dark, trying to find his nest. She muttered a curse as she kicked a can through the darkness; she really needed to do a garbage sweep. Her hand found a familiar hold that took her breath away, the frame of his doorless room.
"Christopher," she hissed through the darkness. "I know you're awake!"
The two clicks through the darkness confirmed her thoughts. He was half asleep and refused to speak in any language, even his own. She had the basics of his clicks down, something not even the government had knowledge of. It made her feel special.
"Oh shiznits," she whimpered ans gunshots peppered the night air.
She dropped down to her hands and her knees, feeling her way across the floor until she found musty newspapers and old pieces of clothing. When she felt his shell, she breathed a true sigh of relief.
He always calmed her, even if she could just see him she was instantly calmed. When he didn't fight her on touching him, it made her feel even more safe. The safest girl in the world. And she was. So long as he was around, no harm would come to her. Unless his son got in the way, and she would gladly give herself up for the little guy.
He was just too damn cute.
"We need bath's," she muttered, curling into his back.
One click.
Go to bed.
"Gotcha," she yawned, and tucked herself into her prawn.
