Looking in the mirror
Reflecting pale
Washed out and expressionless
Emotionless
Soul on the other side
Living this emptiness
Watching light flicker
Trapped behind thick
Clear barriers of steel

Stay so still, hoping
To be unnoticed, the thin
Shell around unfilled air
(Wishing to dissolve away
And slip out with the rain
Joining the other side
Lurking beneath the limpid blue
Puddles of reflection
Out of reach of masters
Heavy handed authority
Over every breath

Mind mechanically shunting
Orders that needn't be followed
But it is far easier to
Lest the enforcement
Shatter smooth glass face

(Nothing shows through
Invisible in the center of
Clear confines)
Clutching a gateway into
Heart no longer beating inside
Torn out and held in
Silvery cadge along with
Other shadows struggling wildly
It is better to be unnoticed
Hidden behind the dust raised by
Desperate screaming wind
Crying for freedom

Imagine briefly
Shards of self
(Too sharp to put back together)
Littering the reflected sky
