Kate: Look, Claudette. Everything the light touches is our kingdom.

Claudette: Wow!

Kate: A queen's time as ruler rises and falls like the sun. One day, Claudette, the sun will set on my time here and will rise with you as the new queen.

Claudette: And this'll all be mine?

Kate: Everything.

Claudette: Everything the light touches... What about that shadowy cave?

Kate: That's beyond our borders. You must never go there, Claudette.

Claudette: But I thought a queen can do whatever she wants.

Kate: Oh, there's more to being queen than...getting your way all the time. (Starts to go down the rock.)

Claudette: (Awed) There's more?

Kate: (Chuckles.) Claudette.

(Shot of Kate and Claudette walking through the territory.) Kate: Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance. As queen, you need to understand that balance and respect all the creatures from the crawling ant to the galloping caribou.

Claudette: But, mom, don't we eat the caribou?

Kate: Yes, Claudette, but let me explain. When we die, our bodies become the grass. And the caribou eat the grass. And so we are all connected in the great Circle of Life.
