Edward sat at his piano, playing a soft haunting melody. His long pale fingers caressing the white ivory keys, feet pressing on the pedals making the song echo throughout the house. Her image floods his mind, haunting him. She was his drug- strong, forbidden, unattainable-and he was addicted. When her sweet smell filled his nostrils his unnecessary breath would falter. When he saw her smile he stopped dead in his tracks, for she didn't smile very often. He continued on with the melancholy tune, when he smelt that beautiful smell, her presence overwhelming his senses.
He turned to the doorway to see her leaning against the doorframe. Long wavy hair cascading down her back covering her delicate shoulders and the white night gown she was wearing appeared to be camouflaged by her translucent skin. She looked beautiful, angelic in the dim lighting of the room. She approached him slowly and sat down next to him on the piano bench. Edward raised a trembling hand and stroked her silky hair between his fingers, but she pushed his hand away. He gently placed his hand on top of hers on the bench trying to knot their fingers together but she wriggled away.
Edward bore his liquid gold eyes, fresh from a hunt, into hers and lowered his head in to kiss her. Their lips just slightly brushed and she hesitantly pushed him away.
"Please don't do this to me," she said quietly, beseechingly. "Please,"
"But, I love you," Edward replied, his cracking voice barely audible, dripping with anguish and more vulnerability than she had ever seen.
"I know," She replied looking down, ashamed to look at him with all the pity she had, she knew him well enough that pity wasn't what he wanted.
She turned away from him, not being able to see the hurt that see felt radiate off of him as she began to get up to leave Edward grabbed her hand and spun her around to face him.
"Don't go," he whispered desperately. The look on his beautiful face made her want to cry. "I need you. I need you Rose,"
"I'm so sorry Edward," Rosalie whispered in reply giving him one last apologetic glance before she walked out of the room leaving Edward alone in the poignant silence.
Edward turned back to his piano and picked up the song from where he left off. The sounds of the melancholy tune filled the large house, filling more than one person with guilt.
