The rain drizzled through the cracks in the leaves of the trees above. The smell of blood and gun powder surrounded the two partners, Yangs head in Blakes lap as she knelt on the ground. 'God, please, no.'
The blonde gripped her side as blood spilled over and through her fingers. The faunus continued stroking her hair, shifting the bright bangs from her partners face. "You're going to be alright, okay?" She was trying to reassure her-more herself than the injured girl. Yang shook her head pitifully and slowly, tears gathering in the corners of her eyes. Blake felt her bottom lip quiver at the sight of one tear running down the side of Yangs face when she blinked and swallowed hard. She let out a pained pant, her breathing becoming deeper and heavier. "Calm down, Yang, okay? You're going to be fine; you'll be fine and we'll go back to Beacon and celebrate-"
"B-Blake..." She croaked, "sing me a song?..." The onyx haired girl nodded, closing her eyes and taking in a calming breath. She gazed down at her bleeding partner and began; "Y-You are my sunshine... My only sunshine..." Her eyes blurred with tears. Her voice shaky, "you make me happy, when skies are gray..." She blinked to clear her eyes, the tears falling down onto Yangs face as she raised a hand to Blakes cheek. She took her hand and held it to her face, trying to smile through her tears. "You don't know dear, how much I l-love you..." Yang smiled as she gazed up into those teary amber eyes. Blake felt Yangs arm go limp and croaked out, "p-please don't take my sunshine away..."
She sat there, wailing and coughing, sniffling and sobbing; refusing to let go of her partners hand. It was hours before anyone had found them; Ruby a bumbling mess as she held her sisters lifeless and bloody body in her arms. Even Weiss cried. 'Why her? Why hadn't I seen the ursa... Why couldn't I save her?...'
Her sunshine had gone, and Blakes world had never felt so dark.
