Unacceptable
There lies a village in the leaves
where two despairing parents grieve
For they have lost their only child
Of spirit bold, and fury wild
A tragedy, if viewed like this
But there are some details amiss
So in reverse our clock has spun
To where this tale had first begun
In the Yamanaka household
Young Ino's fate would soon unfold
Her father called her to his room
That night, a hazy fog did loom
"My daughter" said he with a smile
"You know the Rain are not hostile?"
"No longer, perhaps" she replied
"The war though, cannot be denied"
"But war ends, and peace will prosper
Moreso, with their latest offer"
In response, a questioning glance
"You were part of the last advance?"
"Whether or not I was" said she
"Why should it have to do with me?
There were countless other present
Not just I for them to resent"
"Resent? Oh dear me not at all!
Of the nobles, do you recall?
A son of a lord of that land
Struck with love, has asked for your hand!"
A cold grip took Ino's young heart
As the news shook her world apart
"I am afraid I must refuse
If I must wed, then I shall choose"
She turned away with defiance
"You'd break a fragile alliance
For the love of a common boy?"
He asked, his face now drained of joy
"Common maybe, but just and true"
I tell you; no other will do!"
Her father stood, a fearful sight
"You will not leave the house this night
Nor any morning, noon or day
Till you accept your destiny!"
The young girl stormed off to her room
And sobbed silently, in dire gloom
"Why can't they let me be with you,
My beloved Shikamaru?"
Across the town a storm did brew
Tsunade knew not what to do
"This wedding is vital to us,
If she can be forced, then we must!"
Inoichi turned where he stood
"I doubt she can, or that I could"
"We haven't gpt a choice I fear,
The noble made the terms quite clear"
They all sighed in collective fear
For the wedding would soon draw near
Back where the weeping girl lay glum
At her window, a knock did come
"Shikamaru!" the young girl cried
As she helped pull her love inside.
"My father told me everything"
He said and showed a diamond ring
"So marry me, entwine our fate
Then that noble, will be too late!"
Ino gulped and fell to his arms
Blushing red at his awkward charms
"I would gladly, but it's no use.
The council won't allow such excuse"
"Then flee with me, far from this land
We still have our friends, from the Sand"
Ino looked out across the town
And her smile faded to a frown
"There is nothing left for me here,
I'll leave with you tonight, my dear"
And so without word or warning
Our lovers were gone by morning
In the village of Sand they hide
their existence plainly denied
Even their parents never found out
And soon the Leaf was filled with doubt
Missing in action. Presumed dead.
Was how the notice to Rain read.
So peace remains among the leaves
where two clans pray through endless eves
that their children are safe and sound
Wherever they are to be found
And true, in safety they abide
The slow genius, and his bride
