Sophie sighed and kicked the mirror in front of her, "when are you going to be done?" Sophie mumbled impatiently. "Ow!" Sophie yelped as Biana tugged on her hair with the brush.
"Can you hold still for a second?" Biana dragged the brush through the blond strands of hair. "I will finish faster." Biana said, grinning. "Okay, do you want—"
"I want to be done!" Sophie grumbled, interrupting her friend. "I've been still for too long! Why can't we go and play with the boys?"
"Because," Biana started, dragging the brush through her hair, not even attempting to be gentle, "we always join them."
Linh shuffled over to where they were sitting, in front of the mirror. "If you want…" Linh said, quietly. "I can do it." She sat down on a cushion, looking at the floor.
"Yep! You can do it. I actually quit this time." Biana said, yawning and stretching her arms over her head. "Sophie is being difficult." Biana mumbled as she walked over to her bed and flopped on her back. She grabbed her pillow and positioned it sideways, before hugging it tightly. "I'm tired…" Biana whined. She grabbed a blanket and moved it over herself. "I'm going to take a nap."
Sophie shook her head as Linh moved to sit behind her. "Uh-uh! After Linh finishes with me, I'm taking care of you, so you can be the doll."
Linh picked up the brush and began gently dragging it through Sophie's hair. "Sophie?" Linh asked, quietly, sounding unsure and nervous.
"What?"
"Do you… like any of them?" Linh asked, her voice not even a whisper. "Or… him?" She mumbled, sure she couldn't hear the last part.
"Of course I do, they're my friends." Sophie exclaimed, grinning. Linh dragged the brush through her hair again.
"I mean… do you have a crush?" Linh asked her, her eyes wide and curious. "On Dex?" Linh slipped.
"Ooh! Does Linh like someone?" Biana squealed and sat upwards. She hopped off her bed and walked towards them. "Tell me!" Biana squealed again. She pushed Sophie gently as Sophie grabbed the brush and set it down. She stood up and moved, letting Biana sit there. Biana stared at Linh. "Tell us!" She pried, grabbing Linh's hands.
Linh blushed furiously. "I don't like anyone! I was just curious!" Linh exclaimed, in a voice that was louder than anyone heard her use before. "I was just wondering because you…" she trailed off, still blushing.
"Oh it's okay to like someone!" Biana said and stood up. "I mean—"
"She means, sorry for prying. Don't worry." Sophie interrupts. "Ignore her."
"Sorry Linh." Biana mumbled. Her eyes suddenly brighten. "Sophie can skip her makeover and dress up, let's go to—" She was cut off by knocking.
Biana groaned and walked over to the door, openning it. "Oh, hello Sandor." Biana greeted, Sophie's bodyguard.
"Sophie isn't to go anywhere." He squeaks. "She's grounded and the only reason why she's at your house is because she snuck out and didn't know I followed her."
Sophie glares at him. "Why am I grounded?" Sophie asks, annoyed and relieved at the same time. She didn't blink as Sandor stared down at her.
"For your latest incident." Sandor answered, sounding smug. "The one where you were unconscious for three days and—"
"Okay!" Sophie interrupted. "That's enough." She said, quickly glancing at Linh and Biana, who were staring at her. "I'll go home."
"And clean out Verdi's cage." He added. "And—"
"Oh, hey Gigantor!" A familiar voice called from outside the room. "Hey Foster. Hey Biana and Linh." Keefe stepped into their view of sight and smirked. "Did you all miss me?" Keefe teased.
Biana giggled, "where have you been?" she asked, smiling brightly.
"You know… I spent the day with Foster and I got sent to the Health Center for four days." Keefe explained, smirking. He glanced at Sandor. "Hey Gigantor, what's going on?" Keefe's expression darkened. "Did you find out something?"
"I expect you home by dinner." Sandor said to Sophie, ignoring Keefe. He turned and left them. Sandor shut the door as he left.
"So, no fun trips anywhere for us?" Biana asked, sadly.
Keefe glanced at the door. "He hasn't actually left, you know that? Also, what was with all the embarrassment I felt coming from here?" Keefe asked.
"First, I am grounded, and second, we were just talking about what happened with me." Sophie lied.
Keefe raised an eyebrow. "Empath, remember? That's a lie."
"It doesn't matter." Biana interrupted. "Anyways, Sophie, you should get going now." Biana mumbled and hugged Sophie. "Bye Sophie."
Sophie nodded and left.
I feel rather ashamed of this short chapter. But it will get more interesting as the story progresses. Just stating that Sophie already is in trouble is the main goal of this.
