Leaving Love Behind
He had always known that he had wanted Buffy. Ever since she had thrown a fit about just wanting to be a normal girl the first day he had met her. What he hadn't counted on was that she would want him just as much. Giles sighed as his head fell back onto the headrest of the seat on the plane, and he remembered.
Ever since that whole fiasco with the 'dancing demon', he knew that eventually he would have to tell Buffy that he was leaving. He just didn't know how. Like the song said: "Believe me I don't want to go. And it'll grieve me 'cause I love you so." Thank god he hadn't started to sing "Hero" or "She's Like the Wind". Added to that, Willow and the forgetting spell. God, that was a nightmare and a half. But it was after that, when he had had to tell Buffy that he was leaving. The look in her eyes had nearly killed him. I could almost see the thoughts going through her head. 'God, not you too! Don't you leave me too!' I almost broke down then, wanting more than anything to just gather up in my arms and promise to never leave her. But I did it. I remained strong. In front of her, at least. Once I got home, however, it was a different story. Once in my door, I couldn't get her broken hearted image out of my mind. 'God, I hate this.'
I pushed myself wearily from the door and trudged up the steps shedding my clothes all the way up. I was just too tired to care. My flight left in two days and I still to pack. Not to mention all the other million and one other things one has to see to when preparing to move.
To be Continued. Maybe. If I get reviews.
