Day 21 of Write Every Day in November: So this came from a prompt that said to have your OTP meet in a veterinarian office. I liked the idea so I wrote this, nothing to special this time around. I also want to apologize for the bad title and summary, not my best work.

Sick Cats and Hurt Pigeons

Summary: While at the vet Mikey meets a man with a sick pigeon and it interest him.

Mikey held back a nervous sigh as he sat in the waiting room of a vet's office. His cat Klunk had been coughing a lot and he wanted to get him checked out. He didn't feel it was an emergency, but he wanted to know what was wrong with him.

Mikey had only had Klunk for a year and he couldn't imagine life without him. The little orange kitten he'd found at the park was as much a part of his family as his brothers and father. Klunk was Mikey's first pet, but he had wanted one for years.

As Mikey waited he looked around and his eyes drifted to a man with a bird. It took Mikey a moment to realize the bird was a pigeon. Why would one want a pigeon as a pet? They were everywhere in New York and no one really liked them.

The man must have realized he was being stared at because he turned his head in Mikey's direction. He gave a soft smile. "I know what you're thinking, but I found him on my fire escape with a broken wing. I couldn't just leave him there so I lured him close with some food and managed to grab him. I took care of him until his wing was fixed and tried to let him go. He kept coming though. I don't keep him in a cage or anything, but he's clearly chosen me as his owner."

Mikey smiled at the sweet story and he couldn't help, but think that the man looked good, add his kindness to animals and you had a man that would have made anyone swoon.

"Why are you bringing him in today?" Mikey asked.

"He's been favoring his right leg a little. I want to make sure it's nothing serious." He nodded to the carrier Mikey had "who's in there?"

"My cat Klunk, he's been coughing a lot and I'm starting to get worried."

The man leaned over and stuck out his hand. "You can call me Leatherhead"

Mikey took his hand and shook it. "I'm Michelangelo."

Leatherhead smiled and he looked like he was about to say something when the door opened and Mikey was called in.

Mikey gave an apologetic smile. "Maybe I'll see you later," he said and went into the exam room.

It turned out Klunk had a respiratory infection. Not life threatening, but he'd need to be on medication for a while. Mikey like most people wasn't looking forward to trying to give Klunk pills, but he was glad it wasn't anything too serious.

Mikey got out of the room he was disappointed to see that Leatherhead was gone. Mikey went up to pay and the receptionist smiled. "I have a note for you from the gentleman who calls himself Leatherhead."

Mikey was surprised, but he took the note that Jenny held out. He read it and smiled. "Dear Michelangelo, I was hoping that you might like to get together for coffee sometime. Here's my cell phone number. Feel free to call at any time."

Mikey smiled and once he had paid and left the clinic he dialed the number.

"Leatherhead, hi it's Michelangelo. So when you said coffee did you mean as friends or are talking a date?" Mikey listened for a moment and his grin widened "I'd love for it to be a date." Mikey and Leatherhead set up a time later in the week to meet. When Mikey hung up he was grinning like a manic and wondering how his brother would react to getting a date from taking Klunk to the vet.
