Tuilin, Nadirio Ernil o Eryn Lasgalen!

An elf and a man stood in the midst of the group of men. The immortal was fidgeting, Aragorn could see, but he did not say anything. Beside him, Faramir lightly tapped his arm. "My lord?" He whispered softly.

"Yes?" The king looked at the man.

He shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "Must it be I who pronounces the verdict?"

"Yes, because if I did it, Legolas would never forgive me." At the look on Faramir's face, Aragorn suppressed a chuckle. "He and I haven known each other for too long. It does not matter if I am a king; he would find some way to avenge his…" he coughed. "Humiliation." The man finished with a smile of resignation.

His Steward merely sighed and shook his head. "Very well."

As if the elf had heard him, Legolas turned his head toward them, eyes glittering. Aragorn winced. Even if he were not the one, he knew his friend would be sore for days. But…he had to do this; the public was watching his every move, and one particular man insisted that justice be brought. He adverted his eyes from his friend and nodded to Faramir. "For the love of Eru, Faramir, don't laugh." He muttered under his breath, tapping his fingers nervously on the seat of his chair.

"I will try," his Steward answered as he stood up and cleared his throat. "The verdict will now be read," he said in a formal tone. He dare not look at the one on trial for fear of more withering glares directed at him. "The decision has been made concerning the disagreement between Galfach the hunter, son of Darfael, and—" Here he paused. "Legolas, son of Thranduil, prince of the Woodland Realm and Lord of Ithilien." He finished in a hurry, looking up briefly. The elf did not even blink.

Faramir quickly looked back to his paper and continued. "The jury has investigated the case and all sources, and we judge that one of you is guilty."

At this moment, Aragorn thought he glimpsed a smug look on the face of Galfach. He frowned, but did not speak.

"Legolas, we find you guilty of trespassing private property and for illegally shooting down—" Here he was forced to stop again to compose himself. "—kingfishers." He gritted his teeth and went on reading the consequences, though barely anyone was listening. At the mere word "kingfishers," Aragorn nearly laughed; his mouth quivered, and he coughed forcefully. He could also see the rest of the men were having trouble hiding their laughter.

The elf glowered at all of them, wishing he could strangle a certain friend of his. Crossing his arms, he sighed.

If should Gimli hear of this, he most likely would go into hiding to nurse his pride. And if Elladan and Elrohir heard…he would never live it down.

For it was the first time in all of history that the Prince of Mirkwood had been arresting for killing...kingfishers.

Valar help him.

The End

A/N: Title translates to "Kingfishers, Beware the Prince of Mirkwood!" Heledir is the singular form of kingfisher.

A/N: #2: Sequel in progress.
