The images in the water changed fast. Lionblaze, Leafpool, Jayfeather, Brambleclaw. The image doesn't reflect the cat staring at it. It never does. The images spin faster and faster, making the cat's head spin. . Too fast. She swats at the surface. The image is destroyed.
'Oh, what have you become?" the sound shocks the she-cat. It is usually so quiet down here. "Weak, that's what you've become." The voice is soft and mocking. And very familiar. She closes her eyes and tries to place it. "Is this what you do all day? Sit and stare at yourself? Pathetic."
She opens her mouth to speak but is cut off. "They don't miss you." This takes her by surprise.
"They are happy. Your brother has a new mate. Your old best friend, remember her? She's in the nursery. Your other brother has picked his apprentice. Even your mother has moved on." This stings. Her eyes are still closed but this time it's so she can hold back tears.
"Yep, they're happy. Happier than when you were with them. No surprise there. You bring pain and sadness wherever you go."
And again her mouth opens, this time in protest. "Don't fool yourself honey. And don't act so surprised. You are weak, useless. Just a waste of cat meat and resources. You aren't even part of the three. Not to mention that your birth broke the warrior code a ridiculous amount of times. And that little tiny part where you murdered someone. Just look at what you've become. Just look at how far you've fallen." She spins around.
There in front of her stands a she-cat with a sleek, shiny black coat. Her eyes are a clear bright focused green. And in the same, sweet mocking and dangerous tone, the figure spoke. "Just look how far we've fallen."
