1. Monogamy

Garsiv said he was an idiot.

Tus said he was an idiot.

Tamina said he was an idiot, but her eyes shone with happiness.

2. Marriage

"I'm telling you, most royal prince, that I would gladly die first."

3. King Tus

"Oh, and what do you think you will do with the Dagger? Hide it in your pants?"

"Let's hide it in your mouth, so you might shut your precious lips for a while!"

"Look, the Lion of Persia has great problems with a woman who actually has a brain!"

"The Lion of Persia has problems with a childish princess who…"

"SILENCE! Gods, what have I done that I must suffer so much."

4. Duty

"Surely, you know what that word means, little priestess of Alamut," She fought back the urge to scream and the upcoming desire to sob loudly as the Hassansin leader pressed his weapon to Dastan's neck.

5. Blood

Dastan always remembers poverty. Dirty, small streets filled with sick people (Mother, why aren't you moving?) and children whose greatest treasure is an apple or a bottle of water. Whenever he remembers, his father (the one who with a throne) and his brothers (Garsiv, the Fighter; Tus, the Meeker) grow to a treasure in his eyes (like the apples in the dusty street).

6. Enemy

"He is the enemy, Tamina," came the voice of the Old Council, "You shall never forget that."

7. Fortune

"You're sooo lucky, Prince Dastan…" commented Bis sarcastically as Tamina looked at them with a murderous expression.

8. Hashish

When she stepped in the dark cell, the scent of the mixture of sand, blood (his husband's), and a strong narcotic hit her nose; and the man with the poisoned skin lift his head.

9. Morning

Hands on waist, a kiss to the neck and a grinning voice in the ears, ("Good morning, love.")

10. Religion

"Princess, no delicate incense in our room."

11. Illness

"It's called pregnancy, Dastan."

12. Liar

"I hate you," she said, her eyes cold, her heart broken.

13. Brotherhood

When they were little, and played together, Tus would always be the king, Garsiv the soldier, and Dastan both.

14. Weakness

Tamina smiled and Dastan (warrior, player, street-rat, hero) forgot how to breathe properly.

15. Courage

Cold breath, cold eyes, cold but low voice, ("Dagger or husband?")

16. Tradition

"Do I really have to wear this, Tamina?"

Ostrich-race

Sheikh Amar's face lit up with victory, while Dastan tried to stop his uncontrollable laugh and Tamina blushed furiously.

18. Uncle(s)

Garsiv and Tus granted a quite laughable spectacle as they chased miniature Dastan across the room who played with a beautifully adorned dagger.

19. Prayer

At the age of five, every Guardian had to learn how to talk with the Gods, through humble petitions and silent wishes; now at the edge of becoming a woman, she murmures violently, and repeats the names of the loved one (father,Dastan, mother, Dastan, people of Alamut, Dastan, please Gods, let him never die, Dastandastandastan)

20. Arabian Nights

"So the king spared the life of her wife and they lived in peace and prosperity till their end," Tamina winked, and Dastan knew exactly that peace would come at the very end of their long journey.
