Link rode hard and long all day. The postman had come early that morning requesting him at the palace. Thoughts whirled in his head as to why they would want him.

He ran through castle town, shoving past people relentlessly until he reached the northen gate. Breathless, he showed the note to the guards, walked through and steadily regained his composure as he entered the throne room.
Zelda sat high once again, wearing the garb of a ruler. She beckoned him to come forward and kneel.
"Link, the Hero of Hyrule, I've requested your presence so that I may reward you. All of Hyrule cannot thank you enough for what you've done, so whatever you want is yours, whether a title of Lord, property, or even my hand." The room gasped and Link looked taken aback. This was getting out of control...
"Princess, while I see where you're coming from... there's only one thing I want. So, uh, mind paying me in goat?" A heavy silence rang before the whole of Hyrule seemingly laughed at him. Only Zelda remained stoic, raising a brow.
"Goat, you ask?" Link nodded sheepishly. She looked thoughtful for a minute, before nodding. "How many do you request?" The room had become quiet once again, seeing the oddity before them. He saved Hyrule and all he wants are goats?!
"A few dozen nannies, and maybe a few bucks thrown in too. Is that too much to ask?"
Zelda smiled slowly. "It's perfectly acceptable. Dismissed."
And from that day onward the whole of Hyrule saw fit to pay in goat. Rupees became worthless as the demand in goat steadily rose. Zelda got married to some hoity toity rich guy, Link continued as a ranch hand, days of being a hero aside and everyone lived happily ever after.
