Okay, so this is just going to be a randomly written, randomly updated series of short pieces. Many thanks to all of you who take the time to read and review. It is appreciated.

Biggest thanks as always goes to my incredible friend Mel for the endless support and encouragement with everything x

"White t-shirt, red shorts, black socks."

If there was a moment that he could pinpoint in some way it would be that one. That one right then, during those few seconds where the façade of Melissa had faded before his eyes leaving his beautiful dark haired partner beneath, completely and utterly exposed to his view.

As moments go it had been as open and honest as they ever seemed to allow themselves to be with each other. It had contained truths which neither were close to admitting even to themselves, but nonetheless were clearly there. He wasn't sure who that had surprised more. Certainly not the couple who had been witness to it. But most surprising of all, at the most unexpected of times, the moment had mattered. Not to the case, not as a part of maintaining their cover, but to them.

As always Kensi's eyes seemed to convey far more than any words she could utter. Her sudden insertion of truth, where none should really be, unsettling him momentarily, before he saw the emotions played out in her eyes. This moment between them was real. Despite the company, despite the situation, despite everything, the moment they were sharing was real.

Kensi's answer had given away something, a piece of herself, and now she needed him to do the same. It mattered. He wasn't sure at first why, but it did. Then, as he spoke those all important words, he realised that it mattered to him too. Of course it did. It mattered that they remembered that first moment between them the same, that it held the same gravity and importance. It was the inception of everything they had now, of every moment which followed it and every moment yet to come. They were here, together, because of it.

Kensi's smile, a mixture of relief and embarrassment, was his reward. Not for remembering, but for being brave enough to speak the truth when it was so clearly needed. For catching his partner and reassuring her that in amongst the aliases, the lies and the endless danger, he still recognised what was real between them. And more importantly what mattered.
