Summary: The team celebrate Palmers medical school graduation. For Proseac who finished paying off her mortage.
Celebration
Breena Palmer (nee Slater) felt the vibration of her cellphone as she and her husband walked down the hallway of their apartment building with a frail but cheerful Ducky in tow. Breena pulled her cellphone out of the small pocket in her strapless purple floral dress and read the text message from Tony.
Stall
Breena put the phone back in her pocket and turned back to face her husband and his mentor. They had just returned from Jimmy's medical school graduation, of which he had only been allowed to have two guests at. Breena being his wife was automatically the first guest and the others had all decided that Ducky who had been Jimmy's mentor as he grew into the fine medical examiner he now was should be the other. Jimmy had tried to get more seats for the rest of them, but any extra seats had gone to those graduates with children or siblings.
Breena knew that Jimmy had been disappointed as each of them had helped him in their own way to get where he was. Abby and McGee had been study buddies, Ziva had come over with meals so that Jimmy could eat something nutritious, while Tony had been Jimmy's go to guy when he needed a break from all that study. Gibbs had also been supportive but in his stoic way. The team had all missed their wedding a whole year earlier, which had disappointed them both. But that was life they had reminded themselves as they had gotten ready that morning.
Of course, what Jimmy did not know, is that the team had organised something to celebrate his graduation and make up for the missed ceremony.
"My graduation was quite a bit more formal," Ducky continued as the two men walked behind Breena even though she was in a new pair of high heels.
"Well I guess people are less formal now," Jimmy replied as he noticed that his wife had stopped in the middle of the hallway, with a smile on her face. Once Jimmy reached his wife, she placed a soft kiss on his lips.
"I'm proud of you," she whispered as they broke apart.
"Don't let me stand it the way of young love," Ducky declared as he watched the young couple.
As Breena turned around her phone vibrated in her pocket again, again it was Tony but this time with better news.
Thunderbirds are go.
Palmer placed his hand in Breena's hand as they walked toward their apartment. Ducky shuffled behind them with a smile on his face. Breena turned the key and let herself, her husband and his mentor into the quiet apartment. She flicked on the light and all of her husbands colleagues appeared from their hiding places.
"Surprise," they all shouted. Breena watched as a smile crossed her husband's face.
"Tony thought that we should celebrate," Breena whispered as Jimmy noticed that his dining room table was covered in various foods and under a huge congratulations banner.
Abby handed everyone glasses of champagne and a toast was made.
"To Palmer," they cried, and thus the party began.
