The Way We Love.
Isabel lay silently on the hard mattress of the motel bed.
It was dark, but her eyes had adjusted. She had been lying there soundless and motionless for the last 2 hours. She couldn't sleep the only thing on her mind was her husband, Jesse. She had left him behind and now her life was cold, she felt so very alone. The sun never seemed to shine anymore and even if it did, the once warm says didn't penetrate her cold hard skin. She had blocked her emotions out ever since leaving him in Roswell 6 months ago.
As Isabel rolled over readjusting her position on the empty bed she sighed.
She never should have left him, she knew it at the time, felt it, knew it with every fibre of her being. But Max and Michael were her family and she would do anything for them both, even if that meant leaving her lover and living a lonely, pointless existence. She was prepared to do that for her brothers. Well Max was her brother, Michael, he was supposed to be her lover, but she didn't feel that way about him and nor he for her.
At the moment she was going through the motions living for her companions sake, not hers. She would wither up and die.
Each and every night as she lay awake thinking of the life she had left behind, Roswell, her parents, Jesse overall just the chance to be happy, that's all Isabel really wanted.
Isabel gave up, as she did every night. She pulled the photograph of her and Jesse on their wedding day, the only one she had taken with her, from her rucksack.
Positioning herself in a more comfortable position she touched Jesse's handsome features and fell into his dreams.
It was light. The whole room was lit from the sunlight pouring from the huge windows on every wall.
Jesse was lying on a king size, four poster bed. The white silk sheets were covered in crimson rose petals. Isabel could smell there soft scented fragrance, gently softening the air.
The Isabel of Jesse's dream was gently making love to him as he whispered into her ear.
They both looked so happy.
Isabel woke in her dark motel room sobbing gently into her pillow. That's what Isabel wanted, to be loved and to love Jesse with all her heart.
He had stood by her even though she had lied to him all through their relationship.
Isabel was an alien. Jesse had no idea until one night she was shoot.
Jesse had a rough time with it but finally accepted her for what she was. They had a true love, and this is what was killing Isabel ever so gently but as the days went past, she grew fainter.
She had left the love of her life behind.
And now she needed him back, no matter what it took...
