Mismatched Team
Disclaimer: I think we all know I don't actually own any of the characters mentioned in this story. If I did, why would I be writing a fanfic?
The battle was over. We had lost of course. I glanced around surveying my teammates. My leader was a man with his own ideals. He would fight for them no matter what. He would do anything to fix the things that he though were wrong.
Then there was the charismatic one. If we ever had to pick one, he would be a shoe in for team leader. I wasn't sure why he was here, why he had joined our team. I was sure any of the others would have gladly taken him in and he didn't seem as if would risk his life if there were nothing in it for him. I don't think I knew why many of us where here. Perhaps some agreed with our leader. Perhaps not.
A little off from him stood another teammate. The best word for him was energy. It flowed from him, consumed him. I do believe I know why he was here. His reason is convenience. Today, it was more convenient to fight with us. Today, he could put aside his knowledge of right and wrong, his morals, if only for this battle. Tommorrow, perhaps, he will fight with them. Perhaps he will even convince himself that he is done jeopardizing what he believes in for simple blood ties. Of course, life is never that simple. He will some back. He will always come back. One day he will understand just how much both sides mean to him and that will kill him. Such is life however.
I glanced at another. He was passionate about many things. He either did them whole heartedly or not at all. When he fought, he would get caught up in the moment, unable to stop until the entire battle had stopped. Perhaps he talked to the other about the matters close to his heart, but not to me.
I was different from then. From all of them. I was quieter and enjoyed the rare moments of silence our busy household allowed me. As I watched them, I smiled slightly, remembering our times together. We were a mismatched team, but together we made a family of sorts. My smile broke into a grin as I watched one teammate tackle another. Family was all a person really had in this world; it was precious and should be protected at all costs. This was my last thought before I was pulled to the ground by my teammates, my friends, my family.
A/N: Hey folks, I finally posted something! Woot! Tell me what you think.
