The clock flashed 3:13 and the aroma of sawdust filled Gibbs's nose as he awoke in his basement, as he had many nights before, to the same nightmare that had haunted for years. Death. Blood. Shannon. Kelly. Desert Storm. Mexico. The images flash before his eyes before awakes, the same as every night.
Traffic cars, cell phone calls
Top video screams at me
Through my tender window I see
A little girl, rust red minivan
She's got chocolate on her face

The nightmare never becomes any easier. Gibbs somehow found that he was walking out into the early morning and getting into his 1971 Dodge Challenger RT Hemi and driving.

He found himself driving to this little white church in the country. The same church where he and Shannon married. The same church the happy couple baptized Kelly in. The church the two had been planning on baptizing their unborn their new baby boy, Zachary, whom Shannon had been pregnant with at the time. This was also the location of Shannon and Kelly's funeral. Now abandoned, this had been a common place that Gibbs had visited whenever he had that nightmare.
Everyday I drive by
A little white church
it's got these little white crosses
like angels in the yard
