Simon couldn't take it anymore. The way Jace and Clary had kissed passionately, and the way they had looked at each other after that was too much for Simon. He could feel his heart break into a thousand pieces for what it seemed to be a million times since he discovered the Shadow World. He had to get out of there.
He followed Meliorn and the others without paying attention to the road or his surroundings, his goal was to get away from Clary as soon as possible. Once they managed to get to the surface, he didn't hesitate, and started to walk away from the pond at a quick pace. He wanted to avoid the awkward conversations and the brief glances Jace would throw at Clary when he thought no one was looking.
After a couple of minutes of walking, he heard Clary's unmistakable voice, shouting his name, trying to make Simon turn around, but he ignored his best friend's cries. When he knew that he was outside everyone's line of vision, he stopped and put a hand on the bark of a tree to support himself, and tried to stay calm. The image of Jace and Clary kissing on the Seelie Court was burned into his brain, and he couldn't erase it.
And besides that, the sinking suspicion he started feeling a few days ago was turning more and more into a reality with every passing day, and Simon knew it. There was something terribly wrong with him, and he needed answers, but there was only one way to get them, and only thinking about it made his heart beat faster and his hands shake.
He inhaled and tried to calm down and search for a logical solution. Unfortunately, Simon knew he didn't have many options.
Telling Clary was out of the question. Simon knew that she would go to Jace and explain the situation to him, and he knew without a doubt that the Shadowhunter would mock him, he would tell him that it was probably just one of those contagious, mundane viruses. Isabelle wouldn't be much better. She would throw him a skeptical look and she'd probably tell him to go to the doctor for a check-up. Again, none of this options would help him at all, which meant that Simon would have to turn to the last resource he could think of on that situation, and the worst of all.
Usually, Simon tried to be an objective person when it was time to make a decision. He liked to think really well about his options, and all the possible case scenarios each decision could bring. However, he knew that if he started to overthink now, he wouldn't dare to do what he had to do, and Simon knew that his time to try and resolve all of his questions was coming to an end.
With his decision in mind, and taking a deep breath to try to calm wildly-beating heart, Simon stood up straight and started walking towards the last place he would like to be, the Hotel Dumort.
