Lament
By Princess Ruto
In the solitude of desert twilight
Anid the sand seas
Washed in the light
Of a waning moon
A lone figure sits
On the solid stone hand
Of a desert colossus
Her feelings
Torn
Wondering which path to take
Her brother has brought disgrace
To her people
Yet he is her flesh and blood
And her King
But her people
Her race
Face
Discrimination
Hate
And War
Because of the deeds
Her King has done
She wishes to resist
But it is impossible
To resist one
So bloodthirsty
He would kill for fun
Her life is endangered here
Especially because
She opposes him
She is trapped in this place
Even with baubles
And a pretty face
She is powerless
Before this evil one
Trapped
With nobody to turn to
Solitary
As a single tear drips down copper skin
Smudging rouge
And staining the sand below
