She just wants everything to be like it used to be. She hates this anger. She loathes this sense of betrayal. It wasn't supposed to be this way.

Molly had always known that this day could be a possibility. That it was statistically likely to occur. But as time passed, it became easier to embrace complacency, to hide from reality. She told herself he was strong and he was invincible. There was nothing Sherlock Holmes could not do, including cheating death.

Her hands slap his face with sharp stinging blows. How dare he throw everything away? She knows deep down when he is ready she will help, but for now she is furious. She will not become his enabler.

He knows it was wrong. He tried to convince her it was for a case, but she's not buying it. He can barely look her in the eyes. The pain he sees there when he does, nearly destroys him. He deserves her wrath. He never meant to hurt her.

It was a logical decision. He told himself that it was necessary. That it was the only way to achieve his goal. He was a fool. He allowed the dragon to seduce him with a haze of euphoria.

Now he realizes he may lose Molly, but the beast is ever beckoning.
