Note: Happy Season 5 (although I think happy is the last thing it is going to be)! Last season I wrote some missing scenes for each new ep as we went along and it was really fun for me (mostly because Annie and Auggie were naked for the first few eps). I am going to try to keep that up and in cannon, despite my inherent need for these 2 to be kissing at all times.

This first one is a continuation of the last scene, what happened after Annie and Auggie walked through the doors of the DPD. There is hope we will see this next week, but if not….

As Annie placed the coin in Auggie's hand she wanted to curl his fingers over it, then curl her own over his closed fist. She hated what had gone down in Chicago but in a way diving right back into a mission was going to help her stick to her decision about Auggie.

Seeing him now, clearly mourning his friend affected her, there was no way it couldn't, she was still human. How easy it would be to pull him close, to kiss his cheek, to take him home. Luckily, there was work to do and a room full of people she hadn't seen in eight months.

Auggie took her arm again, the familiar motion that had felt so meaningful on the Mall, as they passed through the glass doors together, over the threshold of their past.

The room was abuzz, a terrorist attack not only on US soil but on CIA property was much bigger news than one rogue Operative in from the cold, back from the dead. She saw some familiar faces brighten, a few puzzled looks and then she could see nothing as she was enveloped by the broad chest of Eric Barber.

"Annie," he actually lifted her off the floor.

"Hi Eric," she said trying not to let the emotion of the day and the situation drown her.

"Sorry," he placed her feet back on the floor and blushed at his own exuberance.

"It's OK, feels good to be missed," she grinned as if she had been on an extended vacation.

"You look good," Barber said awkwardly, unsure of the protocol for greeting someone's return to the living.

"Thanks," Annie laughed certain she had no idea what was appropriate either.

"Auggie?" Millie approached.

He looked towards her.

"Charles Schinderman's wife is on the phone, you private line," she said quietly.

"OK," he nodded, he closed his red rimmed eyes for a beat and then turned towards his office.

It was instinct, Annie reached for his hand, squeezed it, let him know she was with him. He turned back towards her, his face a mix of emotion: sorrow for his friend, relief that she was spared, joy that she is back, regret for what had become of them. He squeezed her hand back and left her with Barber and Millie.

"So, what have I missed?" Annie said nervously as she looked around the DPD.

The End
