The hooded figure stood in the darkness simply staring at the stone structure that stood before her. A memorial to a boy she had fought beside and quite often fought with. She knew she shouldn't be there, she was warned not to come back to Gotham after what happened but when Barbara told her, she couldn't stop herself from making excuses to the rest of her "team" and catching three buses and a train before finally arriving in Gotham.
As she stood there freezing in the cold, chill of the night all she could think of was "He wouldn't have liked this" The cold, unimaginative grave marker was not fit for the tastes of its... its... a tear slid down her face though she quickly wiped it away with a hand clad in a purple glove.
There was a small pot of flowers left beside the grave, Alfred's handiwork she knew.
All she wanted more than anything in the world right now was for the little boy she knew to leap out of nowhere and to insult her like he did in the good old days.
Almost two years away from the Bat-family had taken its toll on her, of course she still had Wendy, Barbara called every now and then and she would get an occasional text from Alvin Draper but when it came to the former dynamic duo, she had sent a text to Dick once and got a hurried "Can't talk now but when I can I will" back.
Damian, the little boy she was visiting had got in touch with her once though – He had sent her a birthday card – The picture on the cover was of a robin holding onto a waffle, she cherished it and it was nice to know that she wasn't completely forgotten.
Though neither she nor Barbara knew the young Robin's birthday, she sent Damian a card for the anniversary of the day he became Robin and never got a reply back. She wondered if he held onto it and maybe didn't know what to write back or if he hadn't gotten it at all. Bruce trusted her but he did relocate her for a reason.
She put her hand inside her coat pocket and took out a new card, she placed it beside the gravestone. The cover of the card depicted a bouncy castle with the words Thank You written under it.
It was getting late and she was going to have to go if she was going to catch the cluster of public transportation back to Hub City.
Stephanie Brown kissed the tips of her fingers and placed them to the memorial stone for the fallen Boy Wonder – Damian Wayne.
"Goodnight sweet prince" Stephanie whispered and then walked away from the gravesite.
