Zach walked down the street. "Hey, Milo!"

"Hey!" Milo greeted back. His hair was a rat's nest.

"What happened?"

"Oh, I couldn't get my hair combed because one of our bathrooms is locked and we can't find the key, and the other has an unstable floor, but I am mostly ready for school today."

The house next to them leaned to one side.

It hit the streetlight which fell over.

"Let's keep moving," Zach suggested.

"That's my aunt's house..."

"Oh, sorry, man!"

"Hey," Melissa greeted.

"Hi, Melissa!" Milo responded.

"What happened to your hair?"

"Things seem more prone to go wrong today than usual. Our bathrooms are out of service, but I can deal with this during break."

"There's the bus!" Melissa exclaimed.

"They got onto the bus.

The bus driver tried to start the engine. It wouldn't start.

"Aw, come on!" the bus driver yelled. He dialed the principal.

"What is that?!" Zach asked in horror.

A speeding car crashed into the bus.

The kids ran out of the bus as fast as they could, as did the bus driver. The car was on fire and its side.

"Help!" the woman screamed.

Milo got his crowbar out and popped the car door open.

Then the woman fell to the passengers side, and the car door, now detached, fell on top of her.

"Omigosh, she's dead!" Milo observed. "Murphy's Law has never killed anyone before!"

"I feel something really weird..." Melissa informed.

An earthquake happened. "This was it!" Melissa responded.

It intensified, knocking them all to the ground.

"Augh, my head!" the bus driver cried.

A lamppost fell in between Zach and Milo, hitting Bradley with such force that it killed him.

"Run for your lives!" Mort shouted. He ran, tripped on a shoelace, and fell into an open manhole.

"Milo, this isn't you, is it?" Amanda asked.

"Run!" another kid shouted. He ended up nailed by a semi truck.

"Everyone stay where you are!" Melissa exclaimed.

"Stop! Milo!" Elliot called. He fell into the same manhole Mort fell in.

"Let's walk normally to school," Milo suggested.

They tried. With all of the disasters, two more students died.

That was when they saw the war tanks.

• • •

"Where are our new robot tanks?"

"I dunno, probably in the hangar."

"They are not in the hangar!"

• • •

"Okay, maybe now we should run," Milo suggested.

Melissa led the charge, only to have a satellite dish fly at her, cutting a key artery in her neck.

"Melissa! Milo, this has gone too far!" Zach shouted.

"What is wrong, though?" Milo knew what was wrong; he wanted to figure out why things were so bad.

Zack misunderstood. "What's wrong?! What's wrong?!" Zach, in his rage, pulled the crowbar out of Milo's hand and killed him.

All the calamities stopped. The aircraft crashing towards them hit a building instead. The tanks got back onto the right command path. But Zach felt smothering guilt.
