Another poem, this time a tribute to H.P. Lovecraft's universe. Well; I bought a Commemorative Edition Necronomicon full of his best works and at the beginning and end you can see a map of Arkham, one of the towns/villages he cited a lot in his stories. This is what I think when I look at it.
(You can make out a few vague references in there; notably to Herbert West - Reanimator, Dagon, The Call of Cthulu, and Facts Concerning the Late Arthur Jermyn and His Family.) Enjoy!
DISCLAIMER: Poem belongs to me. Characters/themes/places &c belong to H.P. Lovecraft and Stephan Wilson (?)
A Tribute to H.P. Lovecraft's Universe
When I need sparks to light the mind,
Or wish to get away -
From my own stale and boringkind,
Into a darker day;
I open up the leather fold and there it waits, for me;
The Houses of the Damned,
White Apes and Callings of the Sea.
I wonder who lives within those streets,
Who might be studying physics -
In homely Miskatonic suites,
Plagued by their fleshy visits.
The undead monsters walk at night,
I hear a ghastly din:
Of screams; a chilling, awful fright,
And I wonder what's within.
For in that town, atop that page,
Another world it rout -
Boasting of a richer age,
That must not be let out.
But I wish now of nothing more
Than to live within that town;
And alas, I feel so raw (so sore!)...
Forever staring down.
Only staring down.
