The End?
--
Thranduil was delighted when he saw, with his own eyes, that his son was back from the war, seemingly healthy and well.
'Thank you, Valar, for returning my son to me unscratched,' the king thanked the powers mentally, and then he stepped forward to greet his son, even though his heart had nonetheless been growing heavy.
Legolas, though, grew suspicious at his father's mannerisms. As he knew from the past, the king walking toward someone meant something bad. He remembered a single moment in which his father had killed an elf without telling him why; that was a memory that had burned itself in his mind when he was an elfling.
"Did I do something wrong?" Legolas asked worriedly as he looked at his father.
Thranduil, not knowing where his son got this idea that he had done something wrong, sighed heavily before he replied, "No, Legolas, you have been much of a blessing to me," he paused for a moment, then giving a resigned sigh, he finished, "It is my time to move on, ion-nin."
