MPOV (Mac's point of view)
I scanned the book and then handed it to the customer. She smiled and thanked me before leaving the store. I flipped the sign on the door, it was closing time. I watched as the woman got into her car and drove down the street and out of view. The rain pelted down the door glass, and I starred out into the darkness with a pout. At ties like these I really felt like asking V'lane for another trip to that beach, but that was out of the question. Barrons would kill me if that happened again, it was bad enough that the first time had caught us a month. I sighed and turned to lock up the cash register.
"It's really gloomy out tonight." A voice said from the corner of the room. I looked up expecting to see V'lane there but instead I saw Barrons. I really hated it when he did that. He'd just show up out of nowhere and without any warning that he was there, he'd start up on a conversation.
"Gloomy doesn't cover this weather its more like pathetic." I walked behind the counter and counted the money. It was my job to make sure that I knew exactly how much was made each day. I didn't hear him move, I didn't even notice he had until he spoke again and I found out he was about an inch away from me.
"You know some people actually like the rain," he said in a low quiet murmur. It was if he was trying to understand my extreme distain. I made the mistake by looking up into those beautiful brown eyes of his. They were like chocolate where they were usually cold and arrogant.
"Yeah well we don't get much rain in Georgia." I locked the drawer and walked around him to pull down the shades for the windows. I still couldn't get the almost sex thing that had occurred when he had come to rescue me for the dreaded Malluce. We had been so close to doing it that every time I thought of it I blushed.
I locked the windows and made sure that they were tightly barred as well. I had gotten a little paranoid after the incident that Fiona-bitch-had caused. She had thought that opening a window and turning off all the lights would scare me a way a little, when it almost got me killed and her fired. The reason that she'd done it was because she'd been jealous and thought that Barrons and I were sleeping together, which we weren't nor will we ever. Except the fact that I couldn't help thinking maybe she was right, maybe he and I did have a sexually attraction to each other. You know what they say about love and hate. There's a fine line in between.
"Tomorrow Miss. Lane, we are going to pay a friend of mine a visit." Barrons said from the counter. I rolled my eyes and groaned. When was this OOP hunting ever going to stop? I turned around to face him.
"Can I pick out my own clothes?" His jaw twitched as his gaze ran down my attire for today. I was wearing a pair of blue Capri pants with a gold belt and white camisole with a built in bra. He raised a brow as if to ask me if I was serious. "What if I promise no pink?" He thought it over for a minute and then nodded.
"Just choose something that would go in the same closet as the other stuff I gave you to wear, okay?" I nodded and then he turned and pushed open the door that lead to the side of the building. Quickly I locked the door behind him and headed up the stairs I was extremely tired and it had been a long day.
