"We thank you for the offer, Professor, but . . . " Lilo paused as she struggled to break Stitch's tight hold on her. He stopped clinging to her chest, scurried up her small body, and latched on to her head instead. He continued to glare at the Professor from his new perch. "As you can see, Stitch loves me very much, and I love him. We're ohana, and ohana doesn't separate for anybody. If your school was for humans, too, and we could get Nani's permission, we might come . . . "
"Regretfully," Charles Xavier spoke, "it is not."
"Then thanks but no thanks, and there's something else I think you should know too."
"What is that, dear child?"
"Stitch isn't a mutant."
"No?"
"Nope." Lilo grinned and shook her head which prompted Stitch to shake his entire body. She giggled as she looked up at him. She then tried to pull him off of her head again but to no avail. Stitch hollered his vivid protests in his language and clung even tighter to Lilo's head.
"I suppose you are going to try to convince me, as you have your friends and the government officials who have investigated our young, blue friend here, that he is your dog?"
Lilo blushed, then shook her head. "Nope, 'cause you wouldn't believe me. He's an alien."
"Really?" Charles rose a questioning eyebrow.
"Yup!" Lilo beamed.
Charles wheeled closer and lifted a hand to Stitch, who growled. "It's all right," he assured him, looking into his eyes. "I am not going to take you from your friend." He smiled when Stitch let him pet him and butted his head against his palm for more attention. As he continued to pet Stitch, Charles looked back to the brave, little girl who had saved the alien and the world many times. "Do tell," he prompted and listened closely as she eagerly launched into their story.
