She never meant for this to happen, for everything to get so complicated. It was supposed to be simple. They were just two friends helping each other out with stress and the dark reality surrounding their job by providing an escape. The emotional and physical release that their relationship provided was something she thought at first would help to distract her from the losses that had occurred in the past several months, but instead something else happened.
Now waking up in the morning meant having someone to smile at, someone to smile with. Breakfast meant putting on that green silk shirt that he always wore for luck, but wants her to wear even more. There were brief kisses amidst business meetings and research for missions, and discrete glances at team briefings.
Even though he juggled several different personas, out of them there one she was most fond of, Ollie. He was free to be himself in front of her, but even more important to this was that she was able to be herself in front of Ollie. There was no need to think of lies offhand to explain missing coffee dates, or frantically hiding paperwork when the door opened earlier than it should.
There was a freedom that she never felt before, one she never thought she would ever have the chance to experience. In light of her past indiscretions and bad decisions, there were always things she miscalculated and let slip by, but maybe this time her oversight was a blessing in disguise.
