What the Future will Hold
A/N: This is my reaction to the season finale. I personally could not imagine what Casey would do other than law, so I'm coming up with other ideas. Reviews are greatly appreciated!!
"What am I supposed to do?" Casey asked with tears forming in her eyes.
"Something else," judge Elizabeth Petrosky replied to her.
Thoughts began to flood through Casey's head. What else did she have? She spent years studying for this job, she did not have many other hobbies. What was she going to do?
After seeing Lake being sent off to jail, Casey returned to her apartment and thought about her options.
"What am I good at?" Casey asked herself. "Oh yeah, law. That's what I spent my life studying and preparing for."
When Casey realized that she needed to find something else to do, she thought back to her high school and college years to find something that she was good at.
"I can play the violin," Casey thought to herself.
Quickly, Casey went to her closet and pulled out her violin case, which she hadn't opened in years. During high school, Casey had been concert master for her high school orchestra, and in college, she did minor in music, but once she entered law school, the violin was forgotten. She opened the case, and admired the grained wood of her instrument. Undoing the Velcro strap, she took out the violin and tuned it carefully. Once Casey removed the bow, and tightened it, she put the bow to the string, and pulled out an open A. The tone quality of her instrument surprised her. She hadn't remembered it being so pure. After getting the feel of her instrument and bow again, Casey began to play some pieces that she had memorized.
Bach's A minor concerto began to fly from her fingertips. The all natural key resonated off of the walls of her small apartment. It was hard to believe that even after all those years, she still remembered the piece. Casey continued to play for another half hour. After that, she put her instrument away and began looking for places to audition.
"It's not law, but it is my second love," Casey thought to herself. If she couldn't do law, for a few months to a few years, she could do music.
