The Pinewood
The Solomons' Apt
7:50 PM
Massie's POV
I stared into his army green eyes. Dempsey. Dempsey Solomon, the boy I sacrificed everything for-my friendship with the PC, my alpha status, Derrington-was finally in front of me, me in his arms. He was my prize.
I stepped back for minute, thinking. Was he really worth that much?
Dempsey stepped forward. "I like you," he said, mumbling into my Jakkob-styled hair.
I pecked him on the cheek and giggled flirtatiously. "I know," I said nonchalantly and playfully.
Of course he was worth it! I always got nervous around Derrington, oops, excuse me, Derrick, but with Dempsey I was as comfortable as if I was shopping for an ah-dorable Stella McCartney top. And everyone knows I luh-ve my Stellas. Plus, who needed backstabbing, unloyal friends like Alicia, Dylan, and Kristen when I had the best BFF/beta ever Kuh-laire? And, besides, even without the PC I still am at the top. I'm still the beautiful snobby alpha everyone envies.
Dempsey laughed, amused. "Once a smart aleck, always a smart aleck."
"Watch it, Solomon. That's smart ALPHA to you," I retorted jokingly, smiling.
I heard my iPhone ring; a picture of Claire with her eyes crossed appeared on screen. I hit ignore, examined my outfit-an olive Joie skirt, an ivory Splendid cami, the same Stella McCartney boots from Socc-Hers except in brown, A brown cropped, shrunken blazer, Glossip Girl, and an olive Dior headband-and turned back to Dempsey.
"Heyy, thanks for the movie. I had a fun time," I said, grabbing my ivory Balenciaga.
"No prob. I hope to do this again before I go back to Africa."
My heart swelled. He was traveling? Ah-gain?!! What if a hawt HART of a new guy came and I crushed on him instead? Or what if I fell for Derrington? I shook my head. Imposs! Dempsey was perf, except for his ah-nnoying grammar.
"Me too. And for the record, I'll miss you, my crush."
"Did that just come out of your mouth, Mass? I thought only witty comebacks made it outta there!"
"Are you Father Time?"
"No."
"Then you better watch it!"
"See ya, MB."
"Buh-bye!" I said, smiling, and walked out of the apartment.
Dempsey's POV
I sighed. This just wasn't me-the nice, helping hand. Right now I was the conman.
"Bravo. That was very convincing," she purred, stepping out from behind the couch. "MB didn't notice a thing. I can nawt wait when you take her to Africa."
