OK, here's a bit of fan fiction to supplement my nearly barren account on FF.net. This one's based on Resident Evil, because that series is cool. Zombies are cool. So are pirates. I like pirates.

"Sargent Cade, you stand before this court accused of major insubordination in the field...." The voice of a judge in a courtroom long ago bounced around Jonathan Cade's mind as he drove down a long dusty highway somewhere in the middle of the Nevada desert.

"The jury finds you guilty, and henceforth sentences you to a dishonorable discharge. Effective immediately, your clearance, title, and rank are revoked...." Those final words echoed over and over in the ex-soldiers mind as he stared blankly at the horizon.

"Fuck them. Fuck 'em all." He grumbled to himself as he pushed down the accelerator. Memories flashed through his mind of the fateful operation that lead up to his court martial. Bright flashes of light, the sound of gunfire, the smell of cordite, and the taste of blood in his mouth. Blood. The blood had been everywhere. Stinging his eyes, running down his hands. Then, as abruptly as they had started, the images halted, leaving Cade shaken. Clumsily, his fumbled around in his coin tray and came up with a pill bottle. After taking a white tablet, he closed his eyes, and the shaking stopped. After a moment, he opened his eyes again. "Goddamnit." He mumbled. "God damn."

The dusty asphalt went on forever, it seemed, under the tires of the Jeep. In the distance, the lights of a city flickered as its citizens bedded down for the night. The idea of a warm meal and a bit of rest brought a weary smile to Cade's face. He pressed the accelerator down even further, hoping to get to the town faster. The desert scenery blurred as he broke eighty. Then it happened. Something lurched out of the desert, directly into the road, and the Jeep's path.

"Holy shit!" The Soldier yelled, and yanked the steering wheel to the side while stamping the break. Too late. The thing in the road met with the speeding Jeep in an incredibly messy collision. The Jeep skidded, and came to a rest, yards away from the point of impact. Shakily, Cade stepped out of the vehicle. He looked around, then started towards the victim of his high-speed collision. What he found was far beyond anything he'd ever expected. A human body, or what was left of it, lay in the middle of the road. Its chest was smashed in, one arm was missing, and the head had the word "peeJ" imprinted on it. But what brought a puzzled, if repulsed, look to the hardened soldiers face was the fact that all the visible skin was slate gray, and some large patches of the body were missing skin, creating ragged, rotten holes. A crack in the head revealed what was once a brain, now smashed into nothing. Cade recoiled in horror, backing away from it. Certainly, this man had been dead for some time. But how had it managed to lurch out of the desert and come into contact with his jeep if it were dead? Without stopping to think, he jumped back into his jeep and sped off towards the city, and light.
