Disclaimer: I don't own the characters. The only thing I came up with was the plot line, oh wait there isn't one. GN

Her

Every time she walks into the precinct, I'm stunned by her. She always has her long black hair pulled back in a braid. Its starting to gray at her temples and a few strands run through the rest. No matter what happens, I've never seen her beautiful bright green eyes lose their sparkle. As always she's wearing her black leather jacket with her name embroidered on the left breast in blue. She carries her motorcycle helmet in one hand and my lunch in the other, and as always she makes my detectives jealous when she brings me lunch. Its always homemade on her days off. God can that woman cook. She always comes straight to my office, and even though she knows I see her, she knocks on my door and then walks straight in regardless of what I have going on.

Its always an adventure to see what she brings me for lunch, so I investigate while she makes herself comfortable on my office couch. She drops her helmet and jacket into a chair as she goes. As soon as she's seated she opens the newspaper. Its old but she only goes for crossword puzzles. I always leave them for her. I dig into my lunch, enchiladas today, as I watch her. Its moments like these, when we haven't even said a word to each other, that I realize how much I love her. She and I both know that she'll never be what my wife was to me, but I love her just the same. I don know what she sees in me. I'm just an old police captain. She's young, well younger than me anyway, and beautiful, and could probably have someone that's half her age. She has plenty of options ahead of her and yet she sticks with me. She's watching me watch her now.

"What are you thinking about?" She asks me.

"You." I answer. She smiles a little half smile.

"What about me?" She questions again. I can tell she's being coy on purpose.

"I was thinking about how much I love you." I answer. This time she graces me with one of her blinding smiles. She knows I love her and I know she loves me.

I have to get back to work so I get a quick kiss from her and thank her for lunch before she leaves. I watch her walk out with the same grace she sashayed in with. She waves to my detectives and disappears around the corner. I really do love that woman and she definitely spices up my life.
