Chapter One: New Beginnings
It was a daunting change ahead of me, I had spent my whole life crammed in the hustle and bustle of the city, and today was the day I decided to move out and settle into a small village called Oceanview, from what I had heard, it was a very nice and close knit community, and I was looking forward to life there, the future may be unsure ahead, but what was ahead of me for now was the long train journey to Oceanview.
The train was actually quite quiet, there was a conductor aboard, and a few fairly noisy squirrels, but the train then stopped at the edge of the city, where a young, short, blonde girl got aboard. I was engrossed in my newspaper, but noticed this young lady was carrying a wide range of bags, so I, being the gentleman that I am, offered to carry a few of her bags over to a seat for her. At this statement, she went growingly shy, 'U- uhm, yes, please, than- thank you, sir' she stuttered 'Uh-uhm, could I actually uhh... if you wouldn't mind... sit with you?' I was quite shocked by this question, but with her growing shyness and obvious nervousness, I couldn't turn her down, as I placed her bags on the seat next to me, whilst she shuffled across to the other side of the table and placed her remaining bags beside her.
Things went suddenly quiet between us, before I asked 'So what is with all of this luggage?', 'Uhhh... Well actually, uhh... I'm moving...' she uttered back to me, 'This explains her nervousness somewhat' I said to myself in my head.
'Oh, there isn't that many places along this area, not where people want to move to from the city, where are you moving to?' I asked, 'U-uhm, Oceanview' she responded, I really perked up upon hearing this, 'Oh, same here!' I exclaimed 'What's your name?', 'Uh, L-Lyra' she said, a little more confidently than before 'Uh, if you don't mind me asking, sir, where is your luggage?'. 'Well, I wanted a new start so I've only brought a few important things to me with me, which is inside this briefcase' I lifted my large, leather briefcase onto the table, I didn't want to open it yet, just in case I lost any of the contents. 'So, wh- what is your name? How rude of me for not asking sooner' Lyra asked 'Ali, nice to meet you Lyra' I said with a smile, as I offered her my hand to shake, she slowly took my hand with a light grasp and shook, I could feel her hand shaking and her palm getting sweaty, I was about to ask her so much more, but then suddenly 'Next stop, Oceanview, Oceanview station up ahead' Said the loud voice over the radio, we both looked at eachother deep in our eyes, we didn't know what to expect, as I picked up some of her luggage, and she picked up the rest, she started to reach her hand out towards mine to hold it, I held her hand, as I knew she was nervous for this new journey, I was aswell 'T-thank you' she said with a smile, as the doors of the train opened...
