After accidentally destroying Camp Jupiter, the crew never found out it was a spirit controlling Leo. Everyone hated Leo. They bullied him constantly, no matter what he did. He could just stand still, and someone would get onto him. Jason and Percy were the worst and meanest. They physically and verbally bullied him. One day, Leo was done. He couldn't take it anymore, but he decided to just try to relax and calm down, so he did. But later that day, Leo was in the engine room, trying to make adjustments to Festus's control panel. Then Jason walked in. "Hey! Can you work any slower? Bye the time we get to land, the war will be over! No wonder you're hated by the crew. You can't do a thing around here!" Leo stayed quiet. He knew anything he would say would make it worse. "Hey! I'm talking to you! No wonder you're family hated you. I bet your mom started the fire so she could get away from you!" Leo felt horrible, as if he'd just been punched in the gut. The comment hit home. He couldn't stand life anymore. No one needed him. He was the weakling of the crew. The seventh wheel. He couldn't get anywhere I'm life, not in life anyway. He ran away from the engine room. Away from Jason, away from the monster of his friends. Jason just stood there, still in the engine room, with a smirk on his face as if he'd just won. Meanwhile, Leo was running to the stern of the boat. He looked off the edge, into the water down below. The fall would kill him, and if it didn't, he would find something out of his tool belt. He looked at an invention of his own in his hands. Leo stepped down from the edge, and fell to the ground. He sobbed with his head in his hands. He pressed the button on his small machine. A visible shield enclosed him in his sadness. It was magic, so it could block out any powers. Just to make sure there was no flaw, he tried to light his hand on fire but he couldn't. Good. He curled up into a ball and cried until he fell asleep. He awoke to see the crew surrounding his bubble of sorrow. Jason was trying to electrocute the shield, Percy was trying to summon water into the sphere, Annabeth was trying to analyze the structure, Piper was trying charmspeak on the sound proof barrier, frank was turning into various animals, trying to scratch at the shield, Hazel was trying to summon jewel to scratch the protective zone, and Coach Hedge was banging his bat frustratedly against the sphere. They all seemed annoyed by the invention. Leo didn't care though. He clipped the device to belt. He walked over to the edge and looked over and sighed. He got up onto the railing. He looked back at the crew. They never seemed to care about him anymore. Oh well, doesn't matter now. He looked at the choppy seas. He clicked the button to turn the shield off, and he jumped.
He felt the wind flicker around him as he plunged into the air. He felt free. No one there to judge him. No one to tell that he was a stupid, scrawny runt. He was himself and he was happy. He suddenly felt a pull of his waist. He stopped falling. He started to raise back to the ship. He looked up to see Jason. When they arrived on the deck, Jason hugged him.
"Don't ever do that ever again. I'm so sorry. I really am." Jason whispered into his ear.
