"Hibiki, Hibiki get down! It's not safe up there!"

A small girl with brunette pigtails called up to the rowdy raven-haired youngster climbing a tree.

"Kotone, relax. Sheesh, I'll be fine." The boy called down from the tree. "Almost there.." He grunted as his small hand reached for the top branch. "Look, Kotone! I made it to the top! I'm flying, just like a Pigey!" The warm summer breeze tousled his dark hair as he stood looking out over New Bark Town.

"Hibiki! Hibiki you'd better get down or I'm telling your mom! You're gonna get hurt!" Kotone whined as she watched her childhood friend shake the branch with his weight. Emerald leaves broke off and floated downwards, landing on the girl's oversized, marshmallow-like hat. "See? I'm king of the world!" He shouted as he continued to shake the branch.

"Hibki, I'm going to tell my mom right now!" Kotone huffed as she turned around to run into the house.

Suddenly, a earsplitting crack echoed through the air.

"CRACK!"

"Help!" The dark-haired boy cried out as he plunged towards the earth.

He hit the ground with a thud, and Kotone winced as she hurried to help her friend.
"Hibki! Are you alright?" She asked anxiously as she knelt down next to the injured boy.
Hibiki began to cry and rub his knee. "It hurts, Kotone. I want momma."

The brunette girl carefully pulled back one of the legs of his shorts to look for possible wounds.

"Oh, Hibiki, it's only a scratch. You got really lucky."

Hibiki sniffed and rubbed his golden eyes. "Are you sure?"

Kotone smiled reassuringly. "Of course. Let me go get some band-aids."

She got up and ran into the house as Hibiki limped over to the base of the tree.

Minutes later, she returned with a box of band-aids, some tissues and a piece of hard candy.

"It'll be ok. I'll make it better." She said softly as she began to clean his scratch.

"Ah, it hurts." He flinched as she gently dabbed the tissue against the torn flesh.

"I'm sorry. But it'll heal up quickly." She said as she dressed his knee up with band-aids.

He sighed as she worked quietly and meticulously.
"All done!" Kotone declared as she shoved the band-aid rubbish into the pocket of her blue overalls.

"Open up" The girl cooed as she popped the candy into his mouth.
"Do you feel better now?" She said happily as the boy dried his tears.

"Yeah, thanks Kotone." He smiled back at her.
"Good. I'm glad." She replied as she embraced him tightly.

Hibiki blushed and pushed her away. "Hey! I'm a big boy now, Kotone. I'm almost 6 years old. Soon, I'm going to get my own Pokémon and challenge the Pokémon League."
"So?" Kotone crossed her arms in annoyance.

"So, I don't need a hug. Big kids don't hug."

"Oh. Sorry." Kotone looked to the side and stroked a chocolate pigtail.

Hibiki shrugged. "What are you going to do? Oh, I know! You're good at fixing boo-boos, so you should grow up and be like Nurse Joy!"

Kotone uncrossed her arms slowly. "I guess. But I wanna be a Pokémon Master too! Like you!" She exclaimed jubilantly.

The boy sitting next to her thought for a moment. "But we can't both be Pokémon masters. There can only be one, right?"

Kotone shrugged and reclined against the grass. "I guess we'll just have to see who the better trainer is, right?"

Hibiki smiled mischievously. "You're on!"

A/N: Just an idea I had at 1AM. I've always wondered what their childhood was like. I like to think that they were very close. [:

Little Kotone and Little Hibiki are cute. ;A;
